Texas State scored seven runs in the fifth inning to break open a tight game and ended the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 2018 baseball season, beating the Cajuns 11-1 in a game called after seven innings because of the run rule.

The Bobcats (30-27-1) advance to Saturday action where they will meet Troy in a game scheduled for 12:30pm.  Texas State will need to defeat the Trojans twice in order to advance to Championship Sunday.

Louisiana (34-25) got its only run and its only lead of the game on a Kole McKinnon home run in the top of the third inning. But that would be the only hit the Cajuns would get off starter Zach Lee (4-3), who pitched six innings, allowing six walks and six strikeouts.

The lead for the Cajuns was short lived as the Bobcats tied the game on three straight singles off starter Nick Lee (3-7), with Luke Sherley's single driving home the tying run.  The Bobcats added two more  in the fourth on an RBI fielder's choice by Jared Huber and a single by Dylan Paul and then put the game away with seven runs in the fifth with Mickey Scott and Sherley each driving in a pair of runs.

Sherley led the Bobcats 12 hit attack with three hits and three RBI while Dalton Shuffield, Jaylen Hubbard and Paul had two hits each.

It was the final game for six Cajuns' seniors:  Utility player Kennon Fontenot, outfielder Zach Lafleur, first baseman Tyler Stover, and pitchers Logan Stoelke, Colten Schmidt and Dylan Moore.
