The John Jay assistant coach who was accused of ordering two football players to blindside a referee has resigned.

Mack Breed was supposed to appear today before a meeting of the University Interscholastic League but now will not be appearing.

Breed, according to a report by ESPN's Outside the Lines, told his principal he ordered the retaliation after what he felt were bad calls which resulted in the ejection of two players.  Breed also has said the official in question, Robert Watts, used racial slurs.  Watts, through his attorney, has denied those allegations.

The two players in question, 15 year old Victor Rojas and 17-year old Michael Moreno, were suspended from the team and from the school after the incident on September 4th.  Yesterday, it was determined they would be able to return to school for the spring semester.
