When the New Orleans Saints stepped into NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday to face the Texans, they did so with the second ranked offense in the league. The Texans sported the seventh ranked defense that continues to rise.

Conversely, New Orleans offense ranked dead last in the NFL, while the Houston offense came in at 18th.

In a battle of strengths and weaknesses, the Texans came out on top in both, toasting the Saints (and not in the good way) by the score of 24-6.

New Orleans didn't score a touchdown and was shutout in the second half, scoring only two field goals in the second quarter.

Prior to today, the Saints had scored a touchdown in 155 consecutive games, the 2nd longest streak in NFL history. Streak over.

Houston held New Orleans to 268 total yards, forcing three turnovers.

Offensively, Saints quarterback Drew Brees was under pressure for 4 quarters, unable to shake a feisty Texans pass rush led by All-Pro J.J. Watt.

Heading into Sunday, Brees had thrown a touchdown pass in 45 straight games. That streak is now over, as is any hopes of the Saints making a legitimate run at the postseason. While they're not mathematically eliminated, their play of late coupled with their record puts them out of it, barring a miracle or two.

Houston scored two touchdowns on their first two drives, jumping out to an early 14-0 lead and never looked back.

With the loss, New Orleans falls to 4-7. Next week, they host the undefeated Carolina Panthers (11-0). Kickoff is set for 3:25.
