Terry Francona, who led the Boston Red Sox to two World Series titles, and five playoff appearances, likely won't be back as the team's manager in 2012.

The Red Sox failed to make the playoffs, after  blowing a nine-game game lead in the American League wild-card race, the biggest ever held by a team in September that failed to make the playoffs.

Francona will meet with Red Sox management this morning, and the expected outcome is that the team simply won't pick up an option year on his contract for next year.
