After pitching a scoreless inning tonight for Tampa Bay, the Rays have designated former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun Danny Farquhar for assignment.

Farquhar has thrown 35 innings for the Rays this season, with a 4.11 ERA.

Farquhar avoided arbitration before the start of this season, agreeing to a $900,000 salary.  If the Rays place him on waivers, it's likely he'll get picked up by another team.  Or the Rays could trade him.

Farquhar pitched for the Cajuns from 2006-08, compiling a 15-10 record with eleven saves.  He struck out 253 batters in 226 career innings.
