In the 1960s, USL Men's Basketball coach Beryl Shipley stepped out in a big way against the South's unspoken rules on athletic integration. Losing was just not something Shipley was OK with, and he did everything he felt he could to be a winner. With all the reminiscing this week about UL basketball, Gerald Morris' infamous "Touch of Class" incident was brought up several times. After suckerpucnhing Dion Brown, Brown retaliated, and was ejected. Morris shot two free throws, and after sinking the second, gave his dirty bird salute to the student section.
