Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team fell on the road in non-conference action on Monday evening, dropping a 72-38 decision to the Mississippi St. Lady Bulldogs, 72-38, in Starkville, Mississippi.
Mississippi St. jumped out to a 39-16 halftime lead and never looked back.
The Lady Bulldogs out-shot UL from the field, 45%-22%, and also out-rebounded the Cajuns by a 48-42 margin.
Ashley Brown paced Mississippi St., with 15 points, while Laurie Beaty led UL in a losing cause, with 11 points.
With the win, Mississippi St. improved to 9-2 on the years, while the Cajuns fell to 5-6.
UL Women Challenge Savannah St.
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team opens a three-game road trip on Wednesday, when they travel to Savannah, Georgia, to take on the Savannah St. Lady Tigers, in non-conference action.
This will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the two schools, with Louisiana holding a 7-2 advantage.
The Cajuns are 4-4 on the young season, while Savannah St. stands at 4-5.
Tip-off time is set for 6 pm (cdt).
UL Women Win In OT, 63-54
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team ran their current win streak to three games, after defeating the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions, in overtime, 63-54, on Sunday afternoon, at Earl K. Long Gym.
Louisiana led at the half, 28-24, before Southeastern La. tied things up, 49-49, at the end of regulation.
In the overtime period, the Cajuns outscored the Lady Lions, 14-5, to win the non-conference affair.
Southeastern Louisiana out-rebounded UL, 44-40, but the Cajuns were able to out-shoot the Lady Lions from the field, 35%-32%.
Kemi Rotibi led the way for Louisiana, with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Michelle Brunker added 13.
In a losing cause for Southeastern Louisiana, they were paced by the 11 points of Kelli Jenkins.
With the victory, UL improves to 4-4 on the young season, while the Lady Lions fell to 4-5.
UL Women Host Southeastern Louisiana
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Sunday afternoon, playing host to the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions, in a non-conference match-up.
The game is a rematch of a November 29 game in Hammond, in which the Cajuns came out victorious, 69-57.
UL stands at 3-4 on the young season, while the Laday Lions are 4-4.
Tip-off time at Earl K. Long Gym is scheduled for 2 o'clock.
