UL Women Fall To Miss. St., 72-38

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team fell on the road in non-conference action on Monday evening, dropping a 72-38 decision to the Mississippi St. Lady Bulldogs, 72-38, in Starkville, Mississippi.

Mississippi St. jumped out to a 39-16 halftime lead and never looked back.

The Lady Bulldogs out-shot UL from the field, 45%-22%, and also out-rebounded the Cajuns by a 48-42 margin.

Ashley Brown paced Mississippi St., with 15 points, while Laurie Beaty led UL in a losing cause, with 11 points.

With the win, Mississippi St. improved to 9-2 on the years, while the Cajuns fell to 5-6.

UL Women Challenge Savannah St.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team opens a three-game road trip on Wednesday, when they travel to Savannah, Georgia, to take on the Savannah St. Lady Tigers, in non-conference action.

This will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the two schools, with Louisiana holding a 7-2 advantage.

The Cajuns are 4-4 on the young season, while Savannah St. stands at 4-5.

Tip-off time is set for 6 pm (cdt).

UL Women Win In OT, 63-54

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team ran their current win streak to three games, after defeating the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions, in overtime, 63-54, on Sunday afternoon, at Earl K. Long Gym.

Louisiana led at the half, 28-24, before Southeastern La. tied things up, 49-49, at the end of regulation.

In the overtime period, the Cajuns outscored the Lady Lions, 14-5, to win the non-conference affair.

Southeastern Louisiana out-rebounded UL, 44-40, but the Cajuns were able to out-shoot the Lady Lions from the field, 35%-32%.

Kemi Rotibi led the way for Louisiana, with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Michelle Brunker added 13.

In a losing cause for Southeastern Louisiana, they were paced by the 11 points of Kelli Jenkins.

With the victory, UL improves to 4-4 on the young season, while the Lady Lions fell to 4-5.

UL Women Host Southeastern Louisiana

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Sunday afternoon, playing host to the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions, in a non-conference match-up.

The game is a rematch of a November 29 game in Hammond, in which the Cajuns came out victorious, 69-57.

UL stands at 3-4 on the young season, while the Laday Lions are 4-4.

Tip-off time at Earl K. Long Gym is scheduled for 2 o'clock.

UL Women Handle Southern, 60-49

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team picked up a non-conference win on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Southern Lady Jaguars, 60-49, at Earl K. Long Gym.

The Cajuns jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, with a Kemi Rotibi bucket, only 26 seconds into the game.

UL missed their next 16 field goal attempts however, and went the next 12:58 without a field goal, until Megan Whittaker connected on a three-pointer at the 6:36 mark of the initial half.

Southern took advantage of Louisiana's inability to put the ball in the hole, and took a 28-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

The first 13 minutes of the second half saw the game remain close, as UL led, 46-45, with just under 7:00 to play, but  the outscored the Lady Jags, 14-4, the rest of the way, to wind up with the 11-point victory.

Despite the slow start shooting the ball, the Cajuns actually went on to out-shoot Southern from the field, 40%-38%.

Louisiana also out-rebounded the Lady Jaguars, 33-31, and forced 24 turnovers.

Krystal Motley led the Cajuns in scoring, with 19 points, while Kemi Rotibi chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Adrian Sanders paced the Lady Jaguars in a losing cause, with 12 points and six boards.

The Cajuns, who have now won three of their last five games, improved to 3-4 on the year, while Southern fell to 1-4.

Fresh off a four-game road trip, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of historic Earl K. Long Gym on Saturday afternoon, playing host to the Southern Lady Jaguars, in non-conference action.

Louisiana defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 69-57, on Tuesday night, to wrap-up a 2-2 road stretch, and move their season record to 2-4.

Southern will come into the match-up with an overall record of 1-2.

This will mark the 16th time in history that the two schools meet on the hardwood, with Southern holding a 10-5 advantage.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 2 o'clock.

UL Women Defeat Southeastern La., 69-57

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team concluded a four-game road trip on Tuesday night, defeating the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions, 69-57, in non-conference action.

The Cajuns scored the first 12 points of the game, and led 28-25, at the half.

The Lady Lions were actually able to grad their first lead early in the second half,  and later led 47-46, at the 7:49 mark of the game.

UL however, outscored Southeastern Louisiana, 23-10, the rest of the way, to take home the 12-point win.

The Lady Lions out-rebounded the Cajuns, 36-33, but UL out-shot Southeastern Louisiana from the field, 50%-33%.

UL also forced 22 turnovers.

Louisiana, who was playing without leading scorer Mercedes Johnson, was led by Krystal Motley, who had a career-high 27 points, while Kemi Rotibi chipped in with 16.

Aja Gibson paced Southeastern Louisiana in a losing cause, with 17.

With the victory, the Cajuns improve to 2-4, while the Lady Lions fall to 3-3.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team wraps-up a four-game road swing on Tuesday evening, when they travel to Hammond, La., to take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lions, in non-conference action.

The two schools are meeting for the 39th time in history, with Southeastern Louisiana holding a 27-11 all-time advantage.

UL is 1-4 on the year, while the Lions stand at 3-2.

Tip-off time is set for 7 o'clock.

UL Women Take On San Diego

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Friday evening, traveling to San Diego, California, to take on the San Diego Toreros, in non-conference action.

The game marks the third game of a four-game road stretch for UL, who won their first game of the season on Wednesday night, defeating UC Riverside, 59-56.

The Cajuns are 1-3 on the year, while San Diego is 2-1.

The game marks the first time in history that the two schools square off on the basketball court.

Tip-off time is set for 9 o'clock.
