New NBA Deal Needs To Even Playing Field
In the last two weeks, I've been asked many questions on the air, and via e-mail, regarding the NBA lockout. My position of what a new NBA deal should look like hasn't changed in 3 years. The league needs to even the playing field for teams in smaller markets. Otherwise, the league will only survive, rather than flourish.

NBA, Players Getting Closer To Deal
NBA players and owners met for more than 15 hours yesterday, as talks centered on the system issues. The result was significant progress on one of the labor fight’s most distressing obstacles: the luxury tax teams would have to pay for going over the cap. Does this mean the league is any closer to a deal?

NBA Labor: First Two Weeks of Regular Season Cancelled
For only the second time in its history, labor strife is cutting into the NBA regular season. Commissioner David Stern has announced that because the two sides are significantly apart on almost all issues, even after thirteen hours of negotiations, the first two weeks of the regular season have been cancelled...

NBA In Danger of Canceling First 100 Games of Season If Lockout Doesn’t End This Weekend
If NBA owners and players don’t come to an agreement by Monday to put an end to the current lockout, the first two weeks of the regular season will be canceled. Complicating matters is the fact that talks won’t take place on Friday or Saturday in observance of the Jewish Holiday of Yom Kippur.

The NBA announced today that the entire 114-game preseason schedule has been canceled because a new collective bargaining agreement has not been reached with the National Basketball Players Association. If no deal is done by Monday, the first two weeks of the regular season will be canceled.

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, 33, has reached a verbal deal to play in Italy during the NBA lockout, said Italian team Virtus Bologna. “There’s still some things to arrange but at this point I’m very optimistic. I would say it’s 95 percent done,” Virtus president Claudio Sabatini told a local radio station, adding, “This is an important investment and a unique chance for the city of Bologna

Still in the midst of a lockout, the NBA canceled all preseason games from October 9th to the 15th. Originally scheduled to begin October 3rd, player training camps for the 2011-12 season have been postponed indefinitely. With a new CBA agreement nowhere in sight, this probably won't be the first NBA announcement of canceled games.

With the lockout continuing, NBA players have been forced to look elsewhere to fulfill their basketball jones. In the case of Dwight Howard, this journey took him to Japan, where the Orlando Magic center recently dunked on an 11-foot hoop which had been attached to the neck of a 12-foot stuffed giraffe, during an exhibition at a Tokyo mall. Yes, it all sounds a bit strange, but the crowd gets real
