Now that the NBA lockout has reportedly ended, it's time to start looking at how it effects the New Orleans Hornets. While it won't completely prevent big-market teams from buying superstars, it makes it more difficult. It also makes it easier for a small-market team (like the Hornets) to compete on and off the court.

After a 149-day lockout, NBA owners and players agreed to a tentative new collective bargaining agreement that will salvage a 66-game season. Both sides appear to have compromised in order to avoid canceling the season for the first time in NBA history.

The NBA lockout entered day 146 this morning, with no end in sight. However, now several news outlets are reporting that talks have resumed, with a specific Christmas goal date in mind.
