The Lakers won the battle of rebounds, second chance points, and turnovers, against the Hornets. As a result, L.A. defeated New Orleans 106-90 in Game 5 Tuesday night at the Staples Center to gain a 3-2 series advantage.

Kobe Bryant has a sprained left ankle, but has refused the team's request that he have an MRI.  Bryant says he plans to play tonight in Game 5 against the New Orleans Hornets.

With the series tied 2-2, the underdog Hornets hope to steal another win in L.A. tonight against the Lakers. Tip-off for Game 5 tonight is set for 9:30.

It was a happy Easter for Hornet fans as New Orleans defeated the L.A. Lakers 93-88 in front of a raucous crowd at the Hive. Chris Paul's triple-double led the way as the Hornets tied the best-of-seven series 2-2.

Kobe Bryant scored 30 points in Game 3, leading the Lakers to a 100-86 win over the Hornets Friday night. L.A. now leads New Orleans 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.

After spending 5 days in Los Angeles, the Hornets return home to New Orleans for Game 3 of their first round playoff series versus the Lakers. Tip-off tonight is set for 8:30 at a soldout Hive.

The Hornets will return to New Orleans tied 1-1 with the L.A. Lakers in the best-of-seven playoff series. New Orleans missed a golden opportunity to go up 2-0, but fell to the Lakers Wednesday night 87-78. Trevor Ariza led all scorers with 22 points.

The Hornets defeated the Lakers in L.A. Sunday 109-100. With the win, New Orleans takes an early 1-0 lead in the best of seven playoff series. The NBA playoff matchups are now set. With the Lakers overtime win over the Kings Wednesday night, they secured the 2 seed, setting up a matchup with the 7 seeded New Orleans Hornets.

Pau Gasol and the size of the L.A. Lakers handled the Hornets at the Staples Center Sunday night, defeating New Orleans 102-84.

Kobe Bryant took home MVP honors for the Western Conference as the West shined brighter than the East on All-Star weekend. 148-143 was the final from Staples Center in L.A. Chris Paul started at PG for the West, finishing with 10 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and a game high 5 steals.

Despite missing starting forward Trevor Ariza, starting center Emeka Okafor, and sixth man forward/center Jason Smith, the Hornets still led the Lakers late in the fourth quarter. However, L.A. played like a championship team in the final minutes to escape New Orleans with a 101-95 victory.

The Hornets David West and Emeka Okafor are left off the all-star team, as is Minnesota Timberwolves Forward Kevin Love. Clippers PF Blake Griffin is the only rookie selected to the all-star team.

Chris Paul was named to his fourth straight NBA all-star team Thursday. It is the second time he has been voted by the fans as a starter. Kobe Bryant, Yao Ming, Kevin Durant, and Carmelo Anthony were named as the other Western Conferencer starters. Eastern conference all-star starters are Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, LeBron James, and Amar'e Stoudemire.

The Hornets have been terrific at home and the Lakers went into Wednesday on a three game losing streak. Neither trend held up as LA defeated New Orleans 103-88.
