Cajuns Close Mid-Week Schedule in Houston

UL Baseball Downs Houston, 3-1

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun baseball team captured a non-conference home win on Tuesday evening, defeating the Houston Cougars, 3-1, at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

LSU Sneaks Past Houston, 59-58

The LSU Tiger men's basketball team opened up a two-game road trip by sneaking past the Houston Cougars, 59-58, on Tuesday night, in non-conference action.

LSU was trailing, 58-57, with :04 seconds remaining, when freshman guard Anthony Hickey missed a lay-up.

The offensive rebound went to the Tigers' Storm Warren, who was fouled with :01 left.

Warren proceeded to go to the free throw line and sink two free throws, to give LSU the one-point win.

Houston was able to out-shoot LSU from the field, 44%-34%, but the Tigers out-rebounded the Cougars, 37-32, and also forced 20 UH turnovers.

Andre Stringer led the way for the Tigers, with 13 points, while Ralston Turner added 12.

Alandise Harris paced the Cougars in a losing cause, with a game-high 21 points.

With the victory, LSU improves to 4-3 on the year, while Houston fell to 3-3.

Expansion Candidates For The Big XII

Now the Texas A&M has announced they will leave the Big XII by 2012, if they are accepted by another league, that would actually make that conference the Big IX.

Colorado left this year to become a member of the Pac-12, and Nebraska joined the Big Ten.

With nine teams, and with the possibility of losing another member, such as Missouri, the Big XII will be looking to expand.
