High School Football Playoffs-Quarterfinal Round
We've reached the quarterfinal round of the 2011 LHSAA football playoffs, and the Acadiana area has teams remaining all five classifications.
In class 5A, the 7th-seeded Carencro High Bears will be on the road tonight, to take on 2nd-seeded
Jesuit.
In the 4A bracket, the 2nd-seeded St. Thomas More Cougars will host 7th-seeded Edna Karr, while the 4th-seeded Breaux Bridge Tigers will travel to take on 21st-seeded Alexandria, and the 6th-seeded Teurlings Catholic Rebels will visit 3rd-seeded Lutcher.
Moving over to class 3A, the 9th-seeded Jennings Bulldogs will host 16th-seeded Marksville, and the 26th-seeded Rayne Wolves host 2nd-seeded St. Charles.
The class 2A bracket has the 4th-seeded Catholic-New Iberia Panthers hosting 5th-seeded Evangel Christian, and the 1A bracket features the 2nd-seeded Vermilion Catholic Screaming Eagles hosting the 10th-seeded Westminster Christian Crusaders, while 9th-seeded Central Catholic travels to top-seeded Ouachita Christian.
High School Football Playoffs-Week 2
A number of teams from the Acadiana area are in action tonight, in the regional round of the LHSAA football playoffs.
In class 5A, 11th-seeded Acadiana travels to New Orleans, to take on Archbishop Rummel, while 7th-seeded Carencro plays host to 10th-seeded Ouachita Parish.
Three teams from the area are still alive in the 4A bracket, with 2nd-seeded St. Thomas More on the road to take on 18th-seeded Franklin Parish, 4th-seeded Breaux Bridge hosting 13th-seeded Salmon, and 6th-seeded Teurlings Catholic hosting 11th-seeded O.P. Walker.
In class 3A, 6th-seeded Notre Dame will be hosting 11th-seeded Parkview Baptist, while 8th-seeded Eunice hosts 9th-seeded Jennings, and 26th-seeded Rayne hosts 10th-seeded Bossier.
Moving to class 2A, 4th-seeded Catholic-New Iberia will play host to 13th-seeded Welsh, with 10th-seeded Loreauville on the road to take on 7th-seeded Episcopal, while 17th-seeded Ville Platte will entertain top-seeded John Curtis.
Finally, in the class 1A bracket, 2nd-seeded Vermilion Catholic will host 15th-seeded St. Edmund, with 9th-seeded Central Catholic on the road to meet 8th-seeded Elton, and 10th-seeded Westminster traveling to 7th-seeded Kentwood.
High School Football Playoffs-Week 1 Schedule
Tonight begins week one of the 2011 LHSAA football playoffs, with a number of Acadiana-area teams starting their run for a possible state title.
The playoffs consist of five brackets, with 32 teams in each, lasting for five weeks, and concluding with the State Farm Prep Classic, set for Friday, December 9, and Saturday, December 10, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La.
