From the Bird’s Nest: Road Trip–Arkansas State

The original plan was to write about the only road trip by auto this season.

But, thanks to the fiasco after the Middle Tennessee trip and some heavy negotiating, this wound up being the sixth road trip by air for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns this season.

The Cajuns have seven road games this year.  And, I d

Cajuns Fall To Red Wolves, 31-20

The Arkansas St. Red Wolves remained in sole possession of first-place atop the Sun Belt Conference standings, by defeating Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns, 31-20, on Saturday afternoon, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The Red Wolves jumped out to a 20-0 lead, and that deficit turned out to be too much for the Cajuns to overcome.

Arkansas St. only outgained UL, 397-314, in terms of total offense, but the Cajuns failed to protect the football, turning it over five times, including four interceptions, and one fumble.

For the Red Wolves, quarterback Ryan Aplin led the way, passing for 226 yards, and two touchdowns, while running for 70 more yards, and one score.

In a losing cause for the Cajuns, quarterback Blaine Gauthier passed for 206 yards, with 53 rushing yards.

With the win, Arkansas St. improved to 8-2 overall, and remain unbeaten in conference play, at 6-0, while UL fell to 8-3 overall, and concluded their conference schedule, with a 6-2 league mark.

After a bye week next week, the Cajuns wrap-up their 2011 regular season schedule on Saturday, November 26, as they travel to Tucson, Arizona, to take on the Arizona Wildcats, in non-conference action.

Cajuns Take On Red Wolves

Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns return to the gridiron on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Jonesboro, Arkansas, to take on the Arkansas St. Red Wolves in a Sun belt Conference showdown.

The Cajuns achieved their first undefeated home slate since 1987 with a dramatic, come-from-behind, 36-35 victory over the ULM Warhawks, last Saturday at Cajun Field.

The win moved the Cajuns to 8-2 overall, and 6-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, one game behind the Red Wolves in the loss column, as Arkansas St. is 7-2 overall, and still unbeaten in league play at 5-0.

A win would guarantee UL at least a share of the conference title.

Kick-off time is scheduled for 2:04 pm.

You can catch all the play-by-play action on Sports Radio ESPN 1420, and espn1420.com, beginning with the pre-game show, at 1:30 pm.

Cajuns Complete Crazy Comeback, Get 8th Win

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns trailed the ULM Warhawks by 11 points with only 3:08 left in the 4th quarter. A little over 2 minutes later, they led the game by 1. A touchdown by Darryl Surgent, followed by a Green recovery of an onside kick, followed by an Alonzo Harris score, and ending with a defensive stand, the Cajuns completed a crazy comeback on Senior day to defeat the Warhawks 36-35.
