LSU/Alabama Stay 1-2 In BCS Rankings

LSU and Alabama still look destined for a rematch in the BCS title game.

LSU remains No. 1 in the BCS standings, after defeating Arkansas last Friday, 41-17, to clinch the Tigers a spot in this year's SEC Championship Game.

The Tigers will play Georgia for the SEC title this Saturday.

Alabama stays in the number two spot in the BCS standings, after a convincing 42-14 win over Auburn, last Saturday, in their regular season finale.

Oklahoma State replaced Arkansas at number three, while number four Stanford moved up to pass number five Virginia Tech.

Unbeaten Houston jumped two spots to number six, passing number seven Boise State, and number eight Arkansas.

College Football’s Best Rivalries

What college football rivalry would you say is the very best?

Would you say Ohio St./Michigan, who have met over 100 times, and seemingly despise one another more year after year?

Would you say Alabama/Auburn who split family ties with their annual "Iron Bowl"?

Maybe you'd prefer the classic yearly game featuring Army/Navy.

How about Harvard/Yale, or Lafayette/Lehigh?

There are plenty of great rivalries to choose from. After all, rivalries are one thing that makes college football so great.

But what rivalries are the very best?

BCS Running Out Of Options

BCS officials have always stood firm in their belief that there will never be a playoff in college football. Playoff advocates have drawn up scenarios for years about how the BCS would leave many fans unsatisfied. A rematch of LSU and Alabama would satisfy Tide fans, and that's about it. However, the BCS is running out of options, and a Tiger versus Tide rematch appears more likely everyday.

LSU Downs Alabama In OT, 9-6

It was touted as the "Game of the Century". And while that's a pretty big billing to live up to, the match-up between the top-ranked LSU Tigers and the second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide is one that college football fans will be talking about for many years to come.

LSU kicker Drew Alleman nailed a 25-yard field goal in the first possession of overtime to lift the Tigers to a 9-6 victory over Alabama, at Bryant-Denny Stadium, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Saturday night.

Alleman accounted for all of the LSU points, connecting on field goals of 19, and 30 yards in regulation.

Alabama got two field goals themselves, a 34-yarder from Jeremy Shelley, and a 46-yarder from Cade Foster.

The difference though were the four field goals the Crimson Tide didn't make, which included a 52-yard miss by Foster in the overtime period.

Each team was held to under 300 of total offense in the game, which went without a single touchdown being scored.

Alabama accumulated 295 total, compared to 234 for LSU.

The Tigers were led offensively by running back Michael Ford, who was able to pick up 72 yards on 11 carries.

With the win, LSU remains unbeaten on the year.

The Tigers are now 9-0 overall, and 6-0 in SEC play, while Alabama falls to 8-1 overall, and 5-1 in league play.
