Both Sweden and France, as the top two European finishers, have qualified for next year's Olympic Games.

On Saturday, they played for third place in the FIFA Women's World Cup and it was a goal by Marie Hammarstrom in the 82nd minute that was the difference as the Swedes defeated the French 2-1.

They did it despite playing shorthanded after Josephine Ovquist received a red card for kicking France's Sonia Bompastor in the chest.  Hammarstrom's goal after France cleared a corner kick.
