Louisiana's debacle against Troy on Sunday pretty much ended the Cajuns' regular season title hopes.  Now the goal is to get the best seeding possible for the tournament.  Here's how the other teams did and an update on the conference standings with two weekends left.

FIU 9, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 5

The Panthers got the three game sweep in Murfreesboro with a five run eighth inning that allowed FIU to come from behind to win 9-5.  FIU (32-16, 16-8) trailed 4-3 going into the eighth inning, but big hits from Rudy Flores and Yoandy Barroso helped the Panthers win their eleventh straight conference game.  FIU has now won twelve in a row overall.  Mason McVay (1-1) pitched 1.1 innings to get the win.  Barroso drove in four runs and Flores knocked in three.  MTSU (15-32, 7-17) lost its sixth straight league game and currently is two games out of eighth place for the final berth in the Sun Belt Tournament.

WKU 5, FAU 4

The Hilltoppers used three pitchers Sunday and were able to hold off a ninth inning FAU rally to win the series two games to one.  Brian Edelen (4-1), the third pitcher used by WKU, pitched the final five innings, giving up two runs to get the victory.  Ivan Hartle drove in two runs for the Hiltoppers (29-19, 14-10), who moved into a three way tie for third with the Owls (27-19,. 14-10) and Louisiana.  FAU trailed early but scored in the sixth inning to the the game, but WKU got two in the bottom of the sixth off losing pitcher Andy Mee (0-2) and held on for the victory.

UALR 6, Louisiana-Monroe 1

UALR got a stellar pitching performance from Calvin Drinnen to earn the three game sweep over ULM.  Drinnen (4-5) allowed just one unearned run over 7.1 innings to shut down the Warhawks (22-24, 7-17).  The Trojans broke open a close game with four runs in the eighth inning, all with two outs.  Jason Houston, whose three run homer was the game winner on Saturday, homered in the eighth to start the rally off losing pitcher Drew Granier (3-4).  UALR, (19-27, 9-15) who had lost nine straight league games prior to the weekend, opened up a two game lead over ULM and Middle Tennessee for the final spot in the SBC tournament, to be hosted by the Warhawks.

SOUTH ALABAMA 7, ARKANSAS STATE 4

Carlton Paris threw a complete game for South Alabama to lead the Jaguars to a three game sweep over Arkansas State, moving the Jaguars into sole possession of sixth place in the Sun Belt.  Paris (3-4) gave up four runs, two earned, in the fourth inning, but the Jags (25-23, 12-12) struck back with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning off preseason Pitcher of the Year Jacob Lee (5-4) to take the lead for good.  The sweep of the Red Wolves (22-28, 10-14) came at a good time for South Alabama, who had lost five straight league games before the weekend.
