Troy broke open a tight game by scoring two runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to eliminate Western Kentucky from the Sun Belt Conference Softball tournament 7-2 at Lamson Park in Lafayette.

Troy, who played the late game last night, falling to Louisiana, unleashed a 13-hit attack that was too much for the Hilltoppers, who closed their season at 30-19.

The fifth-seeded Trojans (32-26) got good production throughout the lineup.  Michelle Hewitt, Kelly Luquette, Hayden Gann, Kortney Cooper and Kacie McAllister each had two hits.  Ashlyn Williams, who was the losing pitcher last night against Louisiana, allowed just four hits, striking out ten and moved to 2-1 in the tournament.

Troy will now meet undefeated Florida Atlantic this afternoon.  If the Trojans win, they will force a bracket-deciding game tomorrow.
