Sun Belt Softball: #3 FIU 4, #6 Troy 1

Mariah Dawson spun a four hitter as #3 seed FIU defeated #6 seed Troy 4-1 in first round action of the Sun Belt Conference softball tournament, being held on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL.

Dawson (20-12) pitched a complete game, walking four and striking out four.

Ashley Rainey (17-12) took the loss for Troy, allowing only two earned runs in six innings of work.

FIU (28-25) advances in winner's bracket action to take on the winner of South Alabama/ULM.  Troy (31-23) will face the USA/ULM loser in an elimination game.
