Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship Enters Day Three

Day three of the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship gets underway on Friday at Lamson Park, with two games on the schedule.

Play begins at 11 am, with an elimination game, featuring sixth-seeded ULM. and fourth-seeded WKU, who each have one loss.

The Warhawks lost to second-seeded South Alabama, 8-1, on Thursday, while WKU fell to top-seeded Louisiana, 5-3.

The WKU/ULM winner advances to play at 5 o'clock against the Louisiana/South Alabama loser, while the loser is eliminated from the tournament.

WKU (33-23-1) won two of the three times they played ULM (24-26) during the regular season.

At 2 o'clock, top-seeded Louisiana will take on second-seeded South Alabama in a winners bracket game.

The Cajuns defeated WKU, 5-3, on Thursday, on a walk-off grand slam home run by Shellie Landry in the bottom half of the seventh inning, while the Jaguars were an 8-1 winner over ULM.

Louisiana, who is 42-7-1, overall, comes into the game riding a 13-game win streak, including wins in 34 of their last 36 games.

South Alabama, who is 39-11 on the season, is looking to repeat as tournament champions, after winning last year in Troy, Alabama.

The Cajuns defeated the Jaguars in two of the three games they played against each other during the regular season.

The winner of the Louisiana/South Alabama game advances to the tournament final on Saturday, while the loser will play at 5 pm against the survivor of the WKU/ULM game, with the winner of that game advancing to the title game.
