The Stony Brook Seawolves defeated the LSU Tigers, 3-1, on Saturday at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, evening their best- of-three game NCAA Super Regional series at one game apiece.

Stony Brook scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning, as Kevin Courtney doubled with one out, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and ten scored on a single off the bat of Sal Intagliata, who later scored on a tw0-out single off the bat of William Carmon, making it 2-0.

The Seawolves extended their lead to 3-0 in fifth, on a solo home run by Courtney.

The Tigers scored their only run in the sixth, when JaCoby jones singled, advanced to second on a throwing error, and then scored on a single by Raph Rhymes.

Tyler Johnson (12-1) recorded the win for Stony Brook, throwing a complete-game three-hitter, allowing only three hits, and four walks, while striking out one.

Kevin Gausman (12-2), who got the win in the completions of game one earlier in the day, suffered the loss for LSU.

With the win, Stony Brook improved to 51-13 on the year, while LSU fell to 47-17.

The third and decisive game of the series will be held on Sunday at noon, whth the winner advancing to the College World Series.
