Nate Cox and Rashaad Harding were two of the most dominant players in the state in 2016, so it was a no-brainer when it came to selecting the all-state team.

Cox and Harding represented the Acadiana area on the Class 4A All-State Team, and Cox's protector, Spencer Trepagnier, on the offensive line. All three were shining stars in 2016, so it should be no surprise they made the all-state team.

At 6'3"-290 lbs, Trepagnier is a disciplined bruiser up front. He has the size to play at the next level, and his football IQ checks out too. Offensive linemen don't often receive the attention they deserve, so this honor goes a long way for STM's anchor on offense.

Harding was a field general for Carencro at the linebacker position. Not only did he collect well over 100 tackles for the Bears, he constantly broke into the backfield and he directed traffic as the leader of the defense. He already committed to play for the ULM Warhawks, but there might be a few more colleges trying to lure him away from Monroe with the way he played during his senior season. He's built like a full grown man, and he acts like one on the field.

Last but not least, what can you say about Cox? He brought STM their first state championship in football, and he put up jaw-dropping numbers in 2016.

Cox tossed 48 TD's in his senior season and he broke the single game passing record in the state championship game by carving up a talented Parkview defense. His incredible height (6'8") allows him to see over the defense, and he always seems to make the right decision with the ball. He led the state in passing yardage as a senior, and it wasn't by accident. Cox is the real deal. Colleges have been slow to take interest, but scouts are starting to understand that his success was a result of his talent and preparation, not just the system he played in.

Two more local players made honorable mention as well. Carencro DB Kordell Williams and STM defensive lineman Hunter Clay both earned recognition for their play in 2016, and they are also getting attention from college scouts.

Class 4A is a deep lake of talent, but the Acadiana area still produced some of the biggest fishes. These young men put on a show in 2016, now they get to take a bow.
