Alex Stewart and Sara Corbello swept the LSWA's weekly honors for the Ragin' Cajuns, earning their team four more wins in the process.

Corbello took home Hitter of the Week honors after hitting a home run in all three conference games for the second straight week. The senior is catching fire in Sun Belt play, and it seemed like all three of her shots against Texas State came when the Cajuns needed them most. All Alex Stewart did last week was strike out 25 batters and pick up three more wins...sense the sarcasm. Their performances helped the Cajuns sweep Texas State and claim a game against Baylor in Waco, which was no easy task.

The LSWA didn't really have much choice but to double down on the Cajuns this week. When you're rolling like they are, the awards and honors start to pile up.

Stewart now sits at second in the Sun Belt with 15 wins, and her 11 strikeouts on Saturday tied a career high. Her ability to pound the strike zone this season is making life difficult for her opponents at the plate, and her command already looks to be in postseason form.

Less than two weeks ago, Corbello only had two home runs and eigh RBI, now she has eight HR's and 18 RBI. That's what you call exponential growth, Cajun Nation. After addressing some issues at the plate throughout her four years with Head Coach Mike Lotief, the game of softball is finally rewarding her.

Jokingly, Coach Lotief said Corbello is an entirely new player this week.

"I'm glad to introduce you to the new Sara Corbello," Lotief said with a smile.

The "new" Sara Corbello is swinging the bat with confidence and authority, and her senior presence in the lineup brings an added dimension of patience for the other players to learn from (only 11 K's, .447 on-base percentage). When you add in aces like Stewart and Kylee Jo Trahan, and it's no wonder the Cajuns only have three losses more than halfway through the season.
