New Orleans Saints special teams ace Steve Gleason is battling ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The disease is cruel and callus. As Gleason writes a new chapter in his inspirational life while he battles ALS, Steve has already lived a galvanizing life that propelled him to cult hero status among the Who Dat nation.

Jeff Duncan of the Times Picayune and nola.com has written an incredible piece on Gleason’s inspiring story, and his current battle that is harder than anything he ever faced on the football field. It’s a lengthy read, but well worth your time. Click here to read Duncan’s touching story on Gleason.
