Steve Gleason Diagnosed With ALS

Former New Orleans Saints safety Steve Gleason, who will always be remembered most for his blocked punt against the Atlanta Falcons, on the night the Louisiana Superdome reopened for the first time following Hurricane Katrina, has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is also know as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

The Associated Press, courtesy of ESPN.com, reports that sadly, the average person that has been stricken with the disease typically lives only 3-5 years.
