Stefan Trosclair Breaks Down Ragin’ Cajuns Regional [VIDEO]

Stefan Trosclair is a quiet guy in front of the microphone, but his bat is doing most of the talking heading into the Lafayette Regional.

Cajun Nation patiently waited for Trosclair to get hot at the plate, and after a rough regular season, the spark came back to the heart of the Ragin’ Cajuns lineup. He’s riding a six game hitting streak, and he has 13 RBI over the last nine games, including a couple clutch hits to ice victories. It’s safe to say he saved his best baseball for last.

It’s not a coincidence that the team is playing better too. Heading into the Lafayette regional, they boast a ten game win streak and a third straight Sun Belt Championship, but they took their bruises along the way.

“We’ve gone through a lot together. It’s been a long season,” Trosclair said. “We’ve had our ups and downs and worked hard, grinded through it, and we came out with all our goals still intact, and they’re right in front of us.”

The goals he speaks of? Win 40 games (check), win another Sun Belt Championship (double check), and host a regional (triple check). With their fans at their back, the Ragin’ Cajuns have a chance to achieve a new goal, reaching a super regional.

Tony Robichaux typically likes his team to focus on themselves, not their opponent, but can you blame Trosclair for getting a little excited about having Matt Deggs and Lance Harvell back at “The Tigue” for #OneMooreWeek? Sam Houston State is a solid ball club, and they are sure to bring a fighting mentality to the ballpark, thanks to their Head Coach.

“It’s like it’s meant to be for them to come back out here. Can’t get rid of them, huh?” Trosclair joked about Deggs and Harvell. Jokes aside, he showed a lot of respect for Sam Houston State. “They’re a hard playing team. I’m sure they’re looking forward to coming back to the Tigue one more time to play us again.”

It’s the perfect time of the season for Trosclair to turn into a human torch on offense, and he will get to swing away in front of the fans at M.L. Tigue Moore Field a few more times before saying goodbye.
