Softballers Elkins & Stewart Named LSWA Players of the Month

The 5th ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team saw a pair of their own earn LSWA (Louisiana Sports Writers Association) Player of the Month honors.

All-American senior catcher Lexie Elkins and junior pitcher Alex Stewart have been named the LSWA player of the month and pitcher of the month.

In February, Elkins led the NCAA in home runs (11) and slugging percentage (1.439), and sported a 10 game hitting streak from February 14th through the 27th.

Stewart threw 42 innings in the month of February, allowing only 2 walks, earning 7 wins.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team (14-1) returns to the diamond this weekend in Hattiesburg for a 3 game series with Southern Miss (12-8).

A doubleheader is set for Saturday beginning at 1:00pm, with a single game slated for Sunday at 1:00.
