Shawn Long Signs With Philadelphia 76ers
Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun basketball standout Shawn Long signed a two-year partially guaranteed deal with the Philadelphia 76ers today.
After not hearing his name called during the NBA Draft, Long didn't stress, sending out the following message on his twitter account.
The reigning Sun Belt Conference player of the year knew he'd have an opportunity with an NBA club after working out for a plethora of teams, Philadelphia being one.
Players with a two-year partially guaranteed contract usually take part in Summer League play as well as training camp. Though neither has been confirmed, expect Long to begin his journey to make the 76ers roster this summer and into September training camp.
Long finished his senior season at Louisiana leading the Sun Belt in scoring (18.9), rebounding (12.1) and blocked shots (8.1).
In 4 years with the Ragin' Cajuns, the Morgan City native pulled down 1,447 rebounds, most in Sun Belt and school history.
His 2,342 points is third most in Cajun basketball history, as is his blocks (131), double-doubles (75) and games started (131).
