Unseeded Roberta Vinci of Italy pulled off one of the greatest upsets in Women's US Open History, knocking off Serena Williams, 2-6, 6-4,.6-4.

Williams had won 33 consecutive Grand Slam matches and was looking to become the first woman to achieve a calendar Grand Slam since Steffi Graf did it in 1988.  She was also looking to tie Graf's record of 22 major championships in the modern era.

Williams led 2-0 in the third set, but Vinci broke Williams on consecutive serves and held on, winning the final game at love to finish the match.  Vinci defied 300-1 odds in winning the match.

It will be an all-Italian final, as fellow Italian Flavia Pennetta, the number 26 seed, upset #2 Simona Halep, 6-1, 6-3.
