Tigers Shut Out Bulldogs

The Breaux Bridge shut down Jennings misdirection offense while two 1st half touchdowns helped them roll by the score of 12-0.

Jr. RB Edward Batiste got the Tigers on the scoreboard with a 40-yard touchdown run, followed by a 35-yd. TD pass from Sr. QB Lane Landry to fellow senior Nick Belaire to give BBHS a 12-0 halftime lead, which was all they needed.

The Tigers then took the 2nd half kickoff deep into Bulldogs territory, taking off over 7 minutes of clock time.  Despite coming up with no points, it didn’t leave much time for Jennings to come back from a two-score deficit. It was in the 2nd half that BBHS was able to get a lot of work in for their backup players.

Batiste took home MVP honors for Breaux Bridge, while DB Ronnie Courville won MVP honors for Jennings.

The Tigers will play host to New Iberia in their season opener, while Jennings will travel to St. Martinville.

Battle Between Acadiana And St. Thomas More Ends In Tie

In a battle of two of the top teams in the Acadiana area, a 45-yard field goal in the final seconds left fans with a stalemate.

Acadiana jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on a long TD run by Sr. RB Elijah Ledet, who took home MVP honors for the Wreckin’ Rams. But STM responded with a balanced drive that ended with RB Justin Suire’s TD run. The PAT failed for the Cougars, though, who still trailed 7-6.

AHS Sr. QB De’Edward Cormier and the Wreckin’ Rams came right back at the Cougars, though, as Cormier ran for a 60-yard TD. The PAT failed, leaving AHS up 13-7, which ended up being the halftime score.

In the 2nd Half, STM forced an Acadiana fumble. It was recovered by LB John Corry, who returned it for a TD, helping tie the score at 13.

After a long drive for the Wreckin’ Rams ended up with a field goal, STM drove down the field, setting up Sr. kicker Gunnar Raborn’s game-tying kick, which he nailed, to provide the 16-16 final score. Raborn took home MVP honors for the Cougars.

Acadiana opens up their season at home against Northside, while St. Thomas More travels to Sulphur.

Teurlings Pulls Away In Shutout Of Comeaux

After the 1st half between the Rebels and the Spartans, it looked as if fans were in store for a close game. But the second half, and penalties, led to Comeaux’s undoing in a 15-0 loss to Teurlings.

After alternating drives ended with failed 4th down conversions, Rebels Sr. QB Brye Latiolais got the Rebels on the scoreboard with a TD run from inside the 5-yard line. In the drive, TCHS completed a 4th down play near midfield, then were helped by back-to-back unsportsmanlike penalties committed by Comeaux.

After alternating possessions,  the Spartans drove deep into Rebels’ territory before missing a field goal right before the half, leaving the score at 6-0.

In the 2nd half, a Comeaux turnover led to a Teurlings field goal and a 9-0 lead. After a Spartans’ drive ended with nothing, Teurlings Jr. Jacob Landry scored a rushing TD, making the final margin 15-0.

Teurlings opens up their season on the road at University, while Comeaux travels to Cecilia.
