Seven big SEC baseball series’ highlight the third weekend of conference play this week.
In the east, after two weekends of play, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt,  and Tennessee are all 3-3, while Georgia is 1-4, and Missouri is 1-5.
In the west, Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi St. are all 4-2, while LSU is 3-2, and Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas A&M all check in at 3-3..

Let’s take a look at the respective conference series’ schedule for this weekend, with the statistics entering play earlier in the week:

 

#21 TENNESSEE (19-4, 3-3) at #3 SOUTH CAROLINA (21-3, 3-3)

This match-up will feature two of the top four hitting teams in the SEC, with South Carolina third (.304) and Tennessee fourth (.295)

The Gamecocks, who also rank third in the league in home runs, with 17, feature Connor Bright, who is second in  the conference in hitting (.395).

The Volunteers, who lead the league in stolen bases (49), are paced by Nick Senzel, who is currently hitting a .352.

In terms of pitching, South Carolina ranks second (1.87 ERA.), with Tennessee checking in at number eight (2.67).

Game times are scheduled for 6 pm, 3 pm, and 1:30 pm (cdt),  Friday-Sunday.

 

#19 KENTUCKY (18-7, 3-3) at #5 VANDERBILT (21-5, 3-3)   

Offensively, Kentucky ranks first in hitting (.315), while Vanderbilt ranks sixth (.283).

The Wildcats, who also lead the league in home runs (21) and runs scored (222), feature two of the top five hitters in the league, in Michael Thomas (.416) and A.J. Reed (.378).

Pitching-wise the Commodores rank third in ERA. (1.94), while Kentucky currently ranks tenth (2.82).

Game times are set for 6:30 pm, 2 pm, and 1 pm, Friday-Sunday

 

#4 LSU (20-5, 3-2) at FLORIDA (16-9, 3-3) 

In the hitting department, LSU ranks tied for sixth (.283), with Florida in 12th (.266).

In terms of pitching, the Tigers, led by right-hander Aaron Nola, who is first in the conference with a sparkling 0.22 ERA., currently rank first as a team (1.81), while the Gators rank 12th (3.03).

Scheduled game times are 6:30 pm (cdt) on Friday, noon on Saturday, and noon on Sunday.

 

MISSOURI (11-12, 1-5) at AUBURN (18-8, 4-2) 

Auburn ranks fifth in hitting (.294), and ninth in pitching (2.69 ERA.), while Missouri tied for 13th in hitting (.259) and 13th in pitching (3.60).

Game times are set for 6:30 pm on Thursday night, 6 o'clock on Friday night, and noon on Saturday afternoon.

 

#9 OLE MISS (21-5, 4-2) at ALABAMA (16-8, 3-3) 

Offensively, Ole Miss ranks second in hitting (.309), while Alabama is hitting a .269, which ranks tenth.

In the pitching category, the Rebels are currently fourth (2.03 ERA.), while the Crimson Tide rank fifth (2.08).

Game times for the series are 6:30 pm (cdt) on Friday, 6 o'clock on Saturday and 1 pm on Sunday.

 

TEXAS A&M (17-9, 3-3) at GEORGIA (14-11, 1-4)

Texas A&M currently ranks eighth in hitting (.280) and seventh in pitching (2.58 ERA.), while Georgia ranks ninth in hitting (.273) and last in pitching (3.96).

Scheduled game times for the series are 6 o'clock on Friday, and noon on both Saturday and Sunday.

 

ARKANSAS (16-8, 3-3) at #16 MISSISSIPPI ST. (18-9, 4-2) 

Arkansas ranks tied for 13th in team batting average, at a .259, and sixth in pitching,  with a 2.34 ERA., while Mississippi St. ranks 11th in both hitting (.276) and pitching(2.29).

The two teams will play on Friday night at 6:30 pm (cdt), and then on Saturday at 2 o’clock, and on Sunday at 1:30 pm.
