With Appalachian State and Georgia Southern having played Thursday and four other Sun Belt teams on a bye week, not much happened in the Sun Belt this past Saturday..  But one school stayed unbeaten in league play, while another took another step toward bowl eligibility.

SOUTH ALABAMA 13, GEORGIA STATE 10--It was a defensive struggle in Mobile Saturday afternoon but a happy Homecoming for South Alabama.  Gavin Patterson kicked a 30 yard field goal win two seconds remaining to give the Jaguars' their first conference win.

The score was set up by a shanked punt by Georgia State (2-6, 1-3) that went just 18 yards, giving USA the ball at the Panthers' 31 yard line.  South Alabama (4-4, 1-4) got a touchdown from Tyreis Thomas midway through the fourth quarter which tied the game.

ARKANSAS STATE 51, UL MONROE 10--The Red Wolves remained unbeaten in league play with a convincing win in Jonesboro Saturday night, as Justice Hansen threw for four touchdowns and ran for a fifth.  Arkansas State (3-4, 3-0) scored the game's first 28 points and led 42-3 at the half.  The injury-depleted Warhawks (2-6,1-3) got their touchdown on a 61 yard run late in the third quarter.  It was the third straight win for the Red Wolves and ran their winning streak in league games to twelve straight.

#9 TEXAS A&M 52, NEW MEXICO STATE 10--Texas A&M (7-1) rebounded from its loss to Alabama by dominating New Mexico State.  The Texas Aggies scored twice on punt returns in the game.  The second of the returns put Texas A&M up 38-3 in the third quarter.  Tyler Rogers accounted for 178 yards and a touchdown for NMSU (2-6).
