UL women's basketball associate head coach Sallie Guillory is departing her position with the program after accepting a job at Our Saviors Church.

In her new position, Guillory will run all the female athletic ministries for local high schools, as well as UL.

Guillory spent three seasons on coach Garry Brodhead's staff at Louisiana, while also coaching under Brodhead earlier in her career at Teurlings High where she became his successor for two years.

“I have loved every minute of my time here at UL,” Guillory said in a University press release. “I am so appreciative of Coach Brodhead and Andrea (Brodhead) for all of the opportunities they have given me over the last 13 years of coaching. Most importantly, I am thankful for our friendship and their belief in me.

“It has been an honor to serve our student-athletes alongside all of the amazing coaches here at UL. It was a privilege to coach these young women over the last three years and see each of them grow into the strong women that they are today. They have accomplished so much on and off the court, but I am most proud of who they have become in the process. I can not wait to see the great things in their future.”

Following her time at Teurlings, Guillory coached for three seasons on Brodhead's staff at McNeese State as an assistant coach, where she served as recruiting coordinator and social media director.

“Sallie has decided to take a position where she will continue to work with athletic programs on the high school and collegiate levels,” head coach Garry Brodhead said in the release. “This opportunity will allow her to follow a dream that she has had for some time now. For 12 years, Sallie has been working along side of myself in helping to grow the game of basketball in South Louisiana. Sallie has meant a lot to myself, my family, and our program and we appreciate all she has done and wish her the best of luck as she follows her passion.”

She took on the same role in her first two seasons with the Cajuns, before taking on the added responsibility of defensive coordinator last season.

In that role, Louisiana saw improvements across the board defensively, helping them on their way to a WBIT championship.

The search for Guillory's replacement has already begun.

Guillory is and always will be a fantastic coach, and an even better person.

All of us at ESPN1420 wish coach Guillory all the best in her new endeavor.
