New Orleans Saints General Manager says the team wants to extend the contract of quarterback Drew Brees, according to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports.

Loomis also said that while the team wants to extend the 37-year old quarterback, they still haven't sat down to talk with him and his agent, Tom Condon, this offseason.

Brees, who the Saints signed as a free agent prior to the 2006 season, is due a base salary of $19.75 million as he enters the final year of the five-year, $100MM deal he signed in 2012.

A native of Austin, Texas, Brees is due a $30 cap hold in 2016, just one reason why the Saints would like to extend his deal.

Another reason the organization would like to extend Brees is that he's still playing at a very high level, throwing for 4,870 yards and 32 touchdowns, while completing 68.3% of his passes in 2015.
