The New Orleans Saints will be far from full strength on Sunday for their week 3 divisional matchup with the Carolina Panthers.

While the news of Saints quarterback Drew Brees missing the game due to a bruised rotator cuff is certainly the biggest headline, expensive safety Jairus Byrd (knee) is also OUT, and has not played for the Saints since week 4 of last season. He practiced on a limited basis this week, but still isn't ready to return to the field.

Byrd's first backup Rafael Bush is on IR after a season ending injury in week 1. Veteran Kenny Phillips started in his place last week, and will likely start on Sunday in Charlotte.

Former All-Pro guard Jahri Evans (knee) has also been ruled out for New Orleans, Fourth-year pro Senio Kelemete will make his first career start in place of Evans.

Cornerback Keenan Lewis (hip) is questionable after practicing on a limited basis this week. Lewis is recovering from hip surgery he underwent last month. Veteran linebacker Dannell Ellerbe was injured in the Saints first preseason game. He's been limited in practice and is questionable as well.

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks (ankle) missed practice Wednesday, was limited Thursday, and practiced fully on Friday. He is listed as probable.

Carolina's injury report is shorter, and includes the following players as questionable: RB Jonathan Stewart (knee), DE Charles Johnson (hamstring).

Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei (foot) is probable, while linebacker Luke Kuechly isn't officially out, but likely won't play as he continues to recover from a concussion.

Kickoff between the Panthers (2-0) and Saints (0-2) is scheduled for noon.
