Saints Sign Two Players, Waive Isa-Abdul Quddus

New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis has been busy this week, hoping to procure the best 53 man roster as his club prepares for a playoff showdown with the Seahawks in Seattle this Saturday.

Safety Isa-Abdul Quddus, who signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2011, was waived earlier today to make room for four-year veteran safety Jordan Pugh (pictured). Quddus has battled injuries this year, struggling to make an impact on the field.

Pugh was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth-round of the 2010 draft pick by the Carolina Panthers. He played collegiately at Texas A&M. After two years in Carolina, he spent time on the Washington Redskins roster this season, but was released in October.

In his career, Pugh has tallied 41 tackles, a sack, two interceptions, six pass deflections and one forced fumble.

New Orleans defense lost another key cog this week, as linebacker Parys Haralson was placed on injured reserve today. He tore his pectoral muscle in Saturday night’s playoff win over the Eagles. Rather than sign a free agent who is unfamiliar with Rex Ryan’s defense, the Saints signed rookie linebacker Rufus Johnson off their practice squad, elevating him to the 53 man roster.

The Saints (12-5) will play on the road this Saturday in the NFC Divisional playoff round, battling the #1 seed Seattle Seahawks (13-3). Kickoff is set for 3:35.
