Running back Terrance West worked out for the New Orleans Saints today, and decided to stay, signing a contract with the club according to Herbie Teope of Around The NFL.

He was one of several veterans who tried out. New Orleans also worked out veteran running backs Jamaal Charles and Tim Hightower.

West, 27, joins a crowded Saints backfield that still needs depth early in the season due to Mark Ingram's 4 game suspension to begin the season.

West's best season came in 2016 when he started 13 games for Baltimore, rushing for a career high 774 yards and 5 touchdowns, averaging 4.0 yards per carry. He also caught 34 passes that year for 236 yards and a score.

Last season, he only appeared in 5 games due to a calf injury that kept him sidelines most of the year.
