Pro Bowl fullback Erik Lorig has signed a four-year contract with the New Orleans Saints, according to neworleanssaints.com.

Lorig is a four-year NFL veteran who has spent all of his seasons so far with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2010-2013. He made the Pro Bowl in 2012, when he played in all 16 games and started seven of them. That year, he led the way for running back Doug Martin, who set a team rookie rushing record by running for 1,454 yards with 11 touchdowns. Martin also made the Pro Bowl that season, finishing third in the NFL with 1,926 total yards from scrimmage. Lorig also helped another rookie, LeGarrette Blount, rush for 1,000 yards (1,007 yards) in 2010.

Lorig was a seventh-round draft pick out of Stanford in 2010. He is a player that has played multiple positions over his career, including defensive end in college, as well as fullback/tight end in the NFL. He’s also contributed on special teams, recording 17 tackles. And he has 193 receiving yards and one touchdown on 30 catches.

The Saints had no fullbacks on the roster until the signing of Lorig. The Saints declined to tender unrestricted free agent Jed Collins, who was the fullback for the team last season.
