The New Orleans Saints hosted the Houston Texans in their 3rd preseason game of the year and their 1st home preseason game this year. The Texans had more on their minds than just a football game with Hurricane/Tropical storm Harvey causing a ton of rain and flooding in Houston and in Texas. Sean Payton said, "We offered Houston our facilities." The game was a way for the Texans to get their mind off of what was going on back home at least for a few hours. The Saints were able to shut out the Texans 13-0 and they are now 2-1 in the preseason.

This was the first preseason game that Drew Brees and most of the starters played in. Brees played into the second quarter and he finished 8 for 11 and 76 yards. Adrian Peterson played in his first game for the Saints and he finished with 6 rushes for 15 yards. Peterson isn't the old Peterson at least not yet, he didn't play a ton during the game and it takes time to gel with a new team but if he performs like he has in the past he will perform well in the regular season.

The Saints started the scoring with a 26 yard field goal from Wil Lutz to go up 3-0 in the 1st quarter. The Saints would end up scoring the only touchdown in the game late in the 2nd half with a 3 yard touchdown run by Darius Victor. The Saints continued the scoring late in the 4th quarter with a 48 yard field goal from Wil Lutz.

One takeaway from the game was that the Saints defense played really well and have all preseason. The defense had 4 sacks, 1 interception, and allowed 0 points. Although it's only preseason, if the defense shows up like this in the regular season they could end up having a good season. The Saints will finish off the preseason at home Thursday August 31st against the Baltimore Ravens.
