The Saints have brought back veteran wide receiver Robert Meachem (pictured above), days after cutting him.

Meachem takes the roster spot of rookie LB Khairi Fortt (pictured below), who has been placed on injured reserve-designated to return.

As a player on IR-designated to return, Fortt is not allowed to practice with the Saints until week 6, and cannot be activated to the active roster until week 8, at the earliest.

Meachem, who was a first round draft pick by the Saints in 2007, continues his NFL career. Entering his 8th season, it will be his 7th with the New Orleans. Meachem signed a lucrative deal with the San Diego Chargers in 2012. However, after a disappointing year, the Chargers released him a little over a year ago.

Meachem caught back on with the Saints last season after week 1.
