The New Orleans Saints have added a familiar face to their 53-man roster.

The Saints are expected to re-sign veteran defensive tackle John Hughes on Tuesday.

Hughes spent the preseason with the Saints, compiling 4 tackles in 4 preseason games, prior to being released in September. He was re-signed on October 4, before being released again last Friday.

The 28-year old Hughes is a former third-round draft choice by the Cleveland Browns in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 320-pound Hughes, has appeared in 58 career games, including 10 starts, with both the Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, compiling 115 tackles, including 5 sacks.

There has been no corresponding move announced, but Hughes is likely to be added in place of linebacker Nate Stupar, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last Sunday, and is likely to be put injured reserve.

Expect more roster shuffling from the Saints, as they are likely to add a linebacker, due to the injuries to both Stupar and rookie Alex Anzalone in recent weeks.
