After the New Orleans Saints waived wide receiver Joe Morgan, a roster spot opened up.

According to a report from The New Orleans Advocate, it appears practice squad WR Seantavius Jones will fill the hole.

Jones, a 6'3, 200 lb undrafted rookie out of Valdosta State, made a strong enough impression in training camp and the preseason to stick around on the practice squad.

Now he's apparently made a strong enough impression to be called up from the practice squad to the active roster. Undrafted rookie receiver Brandon Coleman was also on the practice squad, but New Orleans elected to go with Jones.

In limited preseason action last August, Jones reeled in 3 catches for 17 yards and a touchdown. He also took reps on special teams.

Morgan, who cleared waivers and is now a free agent, released the following statement yesterday.

“I would like to begin by thanking the great city of New Orleans for an opportunity to live my dream here, which since I was a child was to become a professional football player. My tenure with the New Orleans Saints was filled with many positive memories and experiences that have helped me mature both as man and as a professional. I truly value the relationships that were cultivated during my time here, and NOLA will always have a place in my heart. This city is so unique and it has the most loyal fans In the NFL.”

New Orleans travels to Chicago for a primetime matchup this Monday night with the Bears.
