The New Orleans Saints were looking to avoid falling to 0-2, not just overall but at home! Nevertheless, it was not to be as they outkicked the Cleveland Browns 21-18.

It would be Wil Lutz with under 30 seconds remaining who nailed the 44-yard field goal that would eventually win it. What allowed Lutz to get the opportunity for the game-winner was the countless number of missed field goals and an extra point by Cleveland Browns kicker Zane Gonzalez. He had an opportunity to tie the game with a 52-yard field goal on the Browns last drive but he missed it for his second missed kick of the day.

The Saints struggled with turnovers on offense for the second straight week as Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn Jr both had fumbles that cost the team possessions. Despite the fumble, Michael Thomas had a monster game with 12 catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

Drew Brees had a solid game in this one as was 28/35 for 243 yards and two touchdowns. In addition, Alvin Kamara had another standout game, on the ground he had 13 carries for 46 yards, and he added six catches for 53 yards.

The Saints (1-1) will head out on the road next week to play the Atlanta Falcons (1-1) at 12 p.m. Sunday.
