The New Orleans Saints added another big body to compete on their defensive line, inking defensive tackle Brandon Deaderick to a one-year contract Tuesday.

Deaderick, a 6'4 305 pounder, has played in the last 4 seasons. A former 7th round draft pick out of Alabama, be began his career with the New England Patriots before spending last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Deaderick has started 15 games in his career, playing in 47 total. His career stat line of 50 tackles, 36 solo, 5.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 2 passes defensed is a big reason the Saints brought him in for a Monday workout.

Deaderick impressed the New Orleans brass enough to earn a one-year deal. He'll compete with fellow defensive tackles John Jenkins,  Brodrick Bunkley, and Moses McCray for a roster spot and playing time.
