The New Orleans Saints have acquired outside linebacker Parys Haralson from the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, in exchange for a conditional future draft choice.

If the 29-year old Haralson makes the Saints roster, they would give the 49ers a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2014 draft.

After playing his college football at Tennessee, Haralson was selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL Draft.

In seven years in San Francisco, including 2012, which he missed due to injury, Haralson accumulated 202 combined tackles, with 21.5 sacks.

Haralson started at least ten games, every year, from 2007-2011, and had his best season, from a tackles-made standpoint, in 2009, when he had 45 stops.

The Saints were searching for depth at linebacker, after losing projected starters Victor Butler and Will Smith for the year with knee injuries.

The Saints are hoping to get a little of this type of play from Haralson:
