After Mark Ingram got suspended for the first four games of the 2018 NFL season there was much speculation as to whether or not the Saints would bring in a veteran running back to help fill the void. Head Coach Sean Payton had come out right after the Ingram news broke and said that the team would not look to sign a veteran running back.

However, as the team is getting into their mini-camp work a report has surfaced via ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the team would be hosting a veteran back on Wednesday:

Jamaal Charles spent nine seasons as an explosive running back for the Kansas City Chiefs before signing with the Denver Broncos last season.

Charles is 31 years old and would not be asked to carry a heavy workload for this Saints team but play a complimentary role to second year back Alvin Kamara. In his career he has racked up 7,556 yards, 44 touchdowns, on 1,401 attempts.
