The Kansas City Royals defeated the Chicago White Sox, 3-1, on Friday night, clinching their first playoff appearance in 29 years.
Kansas City, who is 88-72, clinched a wild card berth, but can still win the American League Central , as they trail the Detroit Tigers (89-71) by only one game.
