The Kansas City Royals defeated the San Francisco Giants, 3-2, in Game 3 of the World Series on Friday night, at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California, to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Royals manufactured a run, courtesy of an RBI groundout off the bat of Lorezo Cain, which scored Alcides Escobar, which gave them a 1-0 lead.

Kansas City scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning, which extended their lead to 3-0.

Alex Gordon doubled home Escobar with the first run of the inning.

The second run of the frame came after Eric Hosmer drove home Gordon after an 11-pitch at-bat.

The Giants scored their first run in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Michael Morse doubled home Brandon Crawford, cutting the KC lead to 3-1.

Morse later scored in the inning, on a groundout off the bat of Buster Posey, trimming the Kansas City lead to 3-2.

That was as close as the Giants would get however, as the Royals hung on for the 3-2 win, their tenth win in 11 postseason games.

Game 4 is scheduled for Saturday night at 7:07 pm (central time).
