Multiple sources are reporting the Colorado Rockies are hiring Bud Black to be their next manager, replacing Walt Weiss, who resigned at the end of the season.  It was the final open managerial slot.

Black was nearly hired by Washington before the Nationals decided on Dusty Baker.  He is considered an excellent manager despite a losing record in nine seasons as the manager of the San Diego Padres, finishing 649-713.

Before his stint in San Diego, he was the pitching coach for the Angels for eleven seasons.
