LSU running back Stevan Ridley decided to turn pro before his senior season. Now he is trying to show scouts that he has improved his speed. Here is more from Jeff Duncan of the Times Picayune.

Ridley said he has leaned on several former LSU teammates for advice on the pre-draft process, including Jacob Hester, Charles Scott and Trindon Holliday.

He's been training with LSU teammate Patrick Peterson in Boca Raton, Fla., in an effort to improve his speed. He said he hopes to run a time of 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash during testing on Sunday.

"It's no secret, I need to work on my top-end speed," Ridley said. "I've been working hard to get better."

Ridley is one of eight LSU players at the Combine. He and Peterson are the only underclassmen in the group.

Ridley will probably be a fourth of fifth round draft pick. NFL scouting bureaus told him he could go as high as late second round. The only way that happens is if he significantly improves his speed.
